Chemical Studies on Pollen Collected by Honeybees in Giza Region, Egypt

Abstract
Pollen from four major plant sources, collected from pollen traps and from cells of the colony, was analysed. There was no appreciable change in the contents of protein, lipid, total reducing sugars, starch, total ash, and individual minerals during storage at temperatures between—5° and 26° C. Variations in mineral content between plant species were found for Ca, Fe and Zn. The plants were Trifolium alexandrium, Zea mays, Vicia faba and Brassica kaber.
