Electrochemical treatment of water containing dye‐stuffs: anodic oxidation of congo red and xiron blau 2RHD

Abstract
Removal of Congo Red and Xiron Blau 2RHD from their aqueous solutions has been carried out in a trickle tower electrochemical reactor. The effects of initial dye concentration, applied potential and solution flow rate on the removal efficiency and energy consumption have been investigated. Effects of pH and presence of supporting electrolyte have also been examined. Maximum removal rates of 94% and 97% have been achieved for Congo Red and Xiron Blau 2RHD, respectively, with very low energy consumptions.
