INTERPRETATION OF THE PERIODICITY IN ENERGY LOSS OF A WELL-CHANNELED ION WITH RESPECT TO ITS NUCLEAR CHARGE

Abstract

The Z₁ periodicity in the inelastic energy loss cross section is shown to be contained in the electron density of the moving ions when that density is determined from Hartree—Fock—Slater wavefunctions.
