Abstract
Injection of follicular extract produces typical prooestrous changes in the dog''s uterus during the anoestrous period. A growth of vaginal epithelium also occurs, and is followed by a breaking down of the cornified cells. Similar changes occur in the spayed rabbit when injected, but no stratified epithelium is formed in the vagina. The injections had no apparent effect on the follicular system of the ovary, and no definite oestrous or swelling of the vulva occurred. It is possible therefore that a further factor may be involved in the actual production of oestrous.
