Abstract
Summary Information on the biology of Toxoplasma has been summarized. Lack of host specificity, together with morphological and immunological criteria, indicate that the toxoplasmas of different hosts, avian and mammalian, are the same species, T. gondii. The manifestations of strain differences are discussed and data are presented on latent infections and immunity. An analysis of present information relative to transmission is given.
