Abstract

An improved method of preparing polymethylene, (CH₂)_n, by the decomposition of diazomethane is described. A new polymer, polyethylidene, (CH₃∙CH)_n, has been obtained from diazoethane by the same reaction. Diazomethane-d₂ is reported for the first time. A new deuterated polymer, (CD₂)_n, obtained by the decomposition of diazomethane-d₂ has been synthesized.
