THE HYPOGLYCEMIC PHASE OF THE DEXTROSE TOLERANCE CURVE

Abstract
The hypoglycemic reaction following the cessation of prolonged sugar administration does not depend on an increased mobilization of insulin from the pancreas. This phenomenon represents another aspect of the homeostatic liver mechanism, which has been postulated to explain the normal dextrose tolerance curve. These results support the views of Jordan as to the arbitrary nature of the figures for sugar tolerance or utilization limit reported by earlier workers.
