Group treatment of preorgasmic women

Abstract
The preorgasmic women's group treatment program for the treatment of primary anorgasmic dysfunction relates to a combination of physiological and psychological components of orgasm. At home, the women explore their physical responses through masturbation. In the group they share their experiences with the homeplay assignments, the difficulties and fears that accompany them, and other issues of personal importance affecting their ability to experience orgasm. At the end of the five-week treatment program, 91.6 percent of 83 women were experiencing orgasm consistently through masturbation. Transfer of orgasmic capability to the partner relationship usually occurs in women who are in satisfactory emotional relationships, within eight months after the group treatment has ended.
