Pancreaticoduodenal Cancer

Abstract
THE term pancreaticoduodenal cancer was introduced by Child1 to characterize a group of malignant tumors that arise in the region of the ampulla of Vater. It therefore includes tumors of the head of the pancreas, the ampulla of Vater, the common bile duct and the duodenum. All these cancers have in common the fact that a relatively standardized operation, pancreaticoduodenectomy, has been employed in their removal.
