Abstract
The effect is considered of magnetic fluctuations on electron heating of tokamak plasmas by lower hybrid waves. For high power experiments, magnetic fluctuations can enhance both the electron heating rate and the anomalous loss rate. Each of these effects can reduce the efficiency of bulk electron heating; the outward shift in power deposition can increase losses even with the same transport rate, and the RF enhanced anomalous transport can provide a significantly increased loss rate. Keywords
