Spin reorientation studies in cubic Laves rare-earth iron compounds

Abstract
Several types of spin reorientation occur in HoxEr1−xFe2, particularly that from the [110] toward the [100] direction. In all cases the general behavior of the hyperfine fields at the inequivalent iron sites is is well accounted for by magnetic dipolar contributions. Analysis of the Mössbauer spectra taken in the spin rotation temperature interval indicates that the easy axis of magnetization deviates from the axes of symmetry of the cubic system. In the [110] to [111] rotation the spin is in the (110) plane, while in the [110] to [100] transition it rotates continuously within the (001) plane.
