Abstract
Immunofluorescence tests using an antigonococcal serum conjugated with fluorescein isothio-cyanate were carried out on 100 male and 94 female patients. The results are compared with those of Gram stained smears and cultures. A higher proportion of positive results was obtained by the fluorescence methods than by either smears or cultures. The advantages of the method and the importance of the use of a specific antiserum which does not cross-react with other organisms are discussed. Keywords
