The principal genetic series in the region include the series whereby bog lakes are converted to land, streams to land, lakes to land, land series, and the series that follow anthropeic disturbances. Upon a map of the region is plotted the distribution of the most important types of vegetation previous to the era of lumbering, which are the bog (Thuja, Larix, Chamae-daphne, and Carex lasiocarpa), the Picea- Abies, the pine (Pinus strobus and P. resinosa), and the beech-maple (Fagus grandifolia and Acer saccharum).
