Abstract
The transmission coefficient is calculated for electrons in a one-dimensional channel when a source-drain potential bias is applied. For large biases (typically greater than the Fermi energy of the electron gas) the transmission drops significantly from unity, which would be manifest in a reduced conductance, or increased resistance, as a source-drain field is applied. A novel form of negative differential resistance is predicted. Keywords
