Amino Acid and Protein Deficiencies as Causes of Corneal Vascularization: A Preliminary Report

Abstract
Corneal vascularization was observed with the biomicroscope and by exam. of histologic sections of eyes of rats on lysine-, tryptophane-, and methionine-deficient diets or on protein-free diets. Biomicroscopic exams. of about 200 Netherlanders, 10% of whom were suffering from famine edema, revealed no corneal vessels.
