The Failure of Whole Fresh Homogenous Nerve Grafts in Man

Abstract
Host neurons penetrate the grafted segment but dense fibrosis prevents maturation of such nerve fibres. Use of homo-grafts is to be decried. Rich blood supply to the tubules within a graft fascicle did not guarantee their neuromotori-zation. The entire graft may need mechanical protection (as by Ta foil cuffs) from the adverse influence of the graft bed tissues.
