Differential scattering of spin ± (1/2) polarized neutrons by chiral systems. II. Condon oscillator model

Abstract
The general theory of polarized neutron scattering by chiral (nonmagnetic) systems (see Ref. 1) is applied to a specific model system. The model scattering system is taken to be a ’’spinless’’ nucleus vibrating in an anisotropic, anharmonic potential of the general form V=kxx2+kyy2+kzz2+Axy z. This potential is dissymmetric and the vibrational motions of the scattering nucleus are chiral. Double differential cross sections for the scattering of spin +(1/2) polarized neutrons versus spin −(1/2) polarized neutrons are calculated and compared under various conditions of neutron energy and (nuclear) oscillator parameters.
