Animal Life in Hot Springs

Abstract
After a brief discussion of physical factors in the environment, the factor of heat is considered in detail. The regions of the world having thermal waters with their biota are listed, with special reference to Yellowstone National Park. Thermal waters are low in O, are often acid, and generally contain various salts. The maximum temp. at which an organism is found in hot springs is near the thermal death point of individuals living in other habitats.
