Serum Protein Binding of Thyroxine and Diphenylhydantoin

Abstract
Binding of thyroxine and diphenylhydantoin to human serum proteins was studied with the technique of radio-immunoelectrophoresis. Both compounds were bound to albumin and 2 alpha globulin arcs. Thyroxine alone was bound to pre-albumin. The technique employed allowed the separation of serum components which would appear single using conventional zone electrophoretic methods, and suggested that at least 4 serum components bind thyroxine.
