Abstract
Hamsters inoculated intratracheally with influenza virus suspended in sterile mucin developed gross lung lesions similar to those of mice infected with the same strain of virus. Similar results were not obtained when the virus was neutralized with specific antiserum. 71% of the animals inoculated with virus in mucin developed lesions as compared with 9% developing lesions when similarly inoculated with virus in saline. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
