Die Ultraviolett-Absorption von Cytochrom c und von Na2S2O4. Mit 4 Figuren im Text.

Abstract
Long dash] Cytochrome c was isolated from the cardiac muscle and then reduced. The absorption spectrum which is in wide limits identical with that of former reports, shows, in the u.-v. part, a protein band at 275 m[mu], a distinct maximum at 316 mu and an indicated maximum at 345 m[mu]. The absorption spectrum for Na2S2O4 shows great similarities with the spectrum of cytochrome in the corresponding range. This may be due to similar structural figurations of the S-molecules in the native cytochrome c; S may be assumed to be 4-valent and not bivalent as in Theorell''s porphyrin c.
