Abstract
The methods of Svedberg and Pedersen (1940) and of Gutfreund and Ogston (1949) for calculating sedimentation coefficients of small molecules were simplified for use with refractive-index gradient curves. A comparison of 2 methods is presented. The avg. sedimentation coefficient of polyglucose A (Kent, 1953) from measurement at 3 concns., is 0.80 Svedberg units. No dependence upon concn. was observed in this concn. range. The Standard deviation of each measurement was about 3%.Keywords
