Immunologic Differentiation of Luteinizing Hormone and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin in Compounds of High Purity

Abstract
The immunologic cross-reaction between LH and HCG has been studied with micro gel diffusion techniques. Highly purified preparations of LH and HCG are demonstrated to be partially related antigens. Minor antigenic differences permit LH and HCG to be differentiated by spur formation in Ouchterlony gel diffusion plates. Results of immunobiologic assays suggest that these minor antigenic components are not essential for the characteristic biologic activity of LH and HCG. (Endocrinology74: 83, 1964)
