Off-lattice Monte Carlo study of ring polymers

Abstract
Off‐lattice nonintersecting rings of up to 99 bonds were generated by Monte Carlo methods. It was found that the mean square radius of gyration varies as N1.24, N being the number of bonds. The distribution function from the center of mass which is Gaussian for unperturbed rings is distorted to a non‐Gaussian form as a result of interactions. The pair distribution function, however, retains its unperturbed functional form to a high degree of accuracy, after perturbation by repulsive forces.
