Abstract
An objective method of measuring myocardial injury—recording of S-T segment elevation—has made possible quantitative evaluation of various interventions aimed at limiting the progression from ischemia to necrosis in infarcted myocardium. Through this approach it has been learned that measures that improve local oxygen supply or decrease local oxygen needs can indeed salvage a significant percentage of injured myocardium. Keywords
