Abstract
Previously, we proposed to set beamforming parameters in order to realize the required point spread function (PSF) on the basis of optimization theory. Although such parameters are usually set on the basis of the experience of an engineer, our proposed method will realize the best possible beamformer using optimally determined parameters. In this report, after briefly reviewing our trial of breaking away from the use of the Fraunhofer approximation to determine the apodization function for a lateral modulation (LM) imaging or displacement vector measurement, the optimal determination of the apodization function is performed. For the optimization, the weighted minimum norm least squares estimation (WMNLSQ) or singular value decomposition (SVD) is used. Keywords
