Abstract
Microbiological assay values for a group of chemically related vitamin Be12-like pigments (pseudocobalamins) are given. The use of several assay organisms (lactobacilli, Escherichia coli and Ochromonas malhamensis) to differentiate between closely related pigments is discussed. The pseudocobalamins are generally more active than cyanocobalamin for Lactobacillus acidophilus and less active for the other microorganisms used; they are uniformly inactive for Ochromonas malamensis. Keywords
