On the genetics of enzyme locational specificity.

Abstract
The physiological phenotype of malate mutants of Neuro-spora is primarily a consequence of the genetic alteration of the struc-ture of malate dehydrogenase and secondarily an expression of functional and conformational alterations of mutant enzymes associated with mitochondrial membrane and structural protein. Genetically determined structural stereospecificity of both enzyme and structural protein is important in determining the conformational and functional properties of enzyme-structural protein complexes.
