SOME QUANTITATIVE ASPECTS OF ESTROGEN ASSAY

Abstract
A design for the assay of commercial estrogens using rats is described. The statistical characteristics of a series of 46 such assays including the response of 2205 rats are presented. The accuracy of the method is about [plus or minus]15% (99 times out of 100) using 15-20 animals for each of 3 dosage levels. Assays using mice do not seem to have a similar degree of accuracy.
