Abstract
Stimulation with an air jet in the orbital region is shown to elicit a recordable reflex activity in m. tensor tympani. This fact offers additional possibilities in the differential diagnosis of hearing impairments, e.g. otosclerosis. The tensor activity studied is regarded as a component of a startle response. Keywords
