Translocation to and accumulation of phosphorus-32 in sclerotia of Sclerotium rolfsii

Abstract
Factors affecting translocation to and accumulation of phosphorus-32 in sclerotia of S. rolfsii were studied. Significantly more of the isotope was translocated and accumulated in the sclerotia when cultures were 6-7 days old rather than 10-11, when the direction of translocation was from old to young rather than from young to old portions of the cultures, and when the cultures were in about 400 ft-c of light rather than in darkness. In addition, the distance that the isotope could be translocated was also greatly influenced by these factors.
