NEUROMUSCULAR RESPONSES TO VARIATIONS IN CALCIUM AND POTASSIUM CONCENTRATIONS IN THE CEREBROSPINAL FLUID

Abstract
The neuromuscular response in dogs to changes in the Ca or K ion conc. within the cerebrospinal canal has been followed by electrical recording instruments. Lowering the Ca ion conc. or raising the K ion conc. of the cerebrospinal fluid increased the peripheral neuromuscular activity. This activity could be restored to normal by increasing the Ca ion conc. or decreasing the K ion conc.
