Abstract
Sixty-one patients with clinically verified sinusitis maxillaris were divided by the date of birth into a treatment group of 31 and a control group of 30 patients. The treatment group was given as the only difference from the control group 4 Varidase buccal tablets daily. Both groups were treated with penicillin together with sinus puncture and drainage a.m. Proetz on alternate days. As a criterion for the effectiveness of the treatment the time when a clear irrigation water was obtained on sinus puncture was used. In the present limited patient material it was found that the Varidase treated group showed a smaller average number' of punctures and fewer operated patients than in the comparative control group.
