Abstract
An overview of the current status of biocompatible materials is presented. Selected natural and synthetic macromolecular systems are discussed in relationship to thrombosis and their biocompatibility by focusing on the role of physico-chemical parameters such as negative charge density, critical surface tension, and hydrophilicity. Keywords
