Abstract
The pressure-induced simple rhombohedral structure in solid C70 was examined by X-ray diffraction measurement as a function of pressure. This phase was kept stable for at least several days after the release of pressure. From a model calculation, the freezing of the molecular rotation about the short axis is demonstrated in the rhombohedral phase. Keywords
