Terminology and Algal Life Histories, with Particular Reference to the Rhodophyta

Abstract

The proposals made by Chapman and Chapman for the classification of life histories are discussed critically. A simple, alternative type of nomenclature is suggested, compatible with the present need for accurate data and critical investigation of all aspects of algal life histories.
