Abstract
A 1 cc tuberculin syringe with Luer Lock is separated from a 30-gauge needle by a 15-inch calibrated length of P 50 polyethylene tubing. Cardiac puncture is performed through the anterior chest wall after immobilization of the animal with masking tape. Newborn rat tolerates removal of .075 ml of blood or injection of an equal volume. Newborn mouse tolerates removal of 0.25 cc of blood or injection of .05 ml. Advantages over intravenous route of injection are discussed. Keywords
