Abstract
Nonlinear waves in a one-dimensional lattice with (2n, n) Lennard-Jones potential are studied in small-amplitude and long-wavelength approximations. Equations derived are classified into three types according to the value of the force-range parameter n. For n=2 and ≧4, we get the Benjamin-Ono equation and the Korteweg-de Vries equation, respectively.Keywords
