Meyer–Neldel rule in solar cells

Abstract

The temperature dependence of the reverse saturation current of a wide variety of solar cells has been examined and the results indicate an interdependence of the activation energy and the pre-exponential factor. This is, in fact, an example of the Meyer–Neldel or thermodynamic compensation law. The physical mechanism responsible for this effect is not understood.
