Abstract
The technique depends upon the ability of the hydrogen cation (H+) of the free hydrochloric acid of the gastric juice, at a pH of 3 or less, to displace quinium cation (QH+) from a quinium-resin indicator compound. The quinine hydrochloride, as formed, is excreted in the urine and is estimated by a method based on its fluorescence in u.-v. light. Several sources of errors were indicated. Keywords
