Abstract
We present the equation of motion for the drift velocity of a charge-density wave (CDW), the electron drift velocity, and the total electric current in the presence of applied electric and magnetic fields. These equations can be microscopically derived. In this paper, we discuss the electric current and the dynamical effects of an electric field for an incommensurate CDW in a three-dimensional metal. An expression for the effective mass characterizing the CDW acceleration is derived. Keywords
