Dielectric function ofCaF2between 10 and 35 eV

Abstract
The dielectric function of CaF2 over the photon energy region 10–35 eV has been determined by spectroscopic ellipsometry. Close to the fundamental absorption edge the data agree fairly well with band-structure calculations. A sharp exciton at the Ca 3p threshold (27.9 eV) is immediately followed by structures which can be attributed to variations in the conduction-band density of states. The strong transitions observed at higher energies cannot be explained in the one-electron band-structure model. Detailed theoretical calculations are required.
