Cefmetazole (CS-1170): a new cephamycin with activity against Gram-negative bacilli and staphylococci

Abstract
Cefmetazole, was uniformly active against E. coli, K. pneumoniae, Pr. mirabilis, Pr. vulgaris, M. morganii, Y. pseudotuberculosis, Y. enterocolitica, Staph. aureus and Staph. epidermidis. Its activity against Bact. fragilis was remarkable and the drug was moderately active against Ser. marcescens. With the exception of Bact. fragilis, cefmetazole was more active than cefoxitin against the bacteria tested.
