Influence of Acute Hypoxia on Peripheral and Central Venous Pressures in the Non-Narcotized Dog

Abstract
Table or hammock trained dogs breathing 8% O2 showed no significant changes in vena cava or right atrial pressures. The pressures in both the large and small peripheral veins rose significantly under such hypoxic conditions, the rise being greater in the former and thus increasing the pressure gradient between small and large peripheral vein.
