Abstract
For pt.IX see ibid., vol.8, p.1236 (1975). The second-order potential method of Bransden and Coleman (1972) is used in both a semiclassical and a distorted-wave approximation to calculate the ratio of the differential cross sections and the relative phase of the corresponding scattering amplitudes for the excitation of the 21P magnetic sublevels of helium by 50-200 eV electrons. The angular range of 0-40 degrees allows comparison to be made with the measurements of Eminyan and co-workers (1973, 1974).
