Effect of the crystallographic inhomogeneity of a polycrystalline electrode surface on the kinetics of the cathodic reduction of anions

Abstract
The effect of crystallographic surface inhomogeneity of a polycrystalline electrode on the kinetics of the electroreduction of anions was investigated. It was established theoretically that corrected Tafel plots for the reduction of anions of S2O82− type should not coincide for different polycrystalline electrodes with a noticeable crystallographic inhomogeneity of the surface. The analysis of experimental data for a polycrystalline silver electrode fully confirms this conclusion.
