Studies on Lignicolous Sordariaceae

Abstract
On the basis of material collected from Oregon, Costa Rica, Denmark, Sweden, the Solomon Islands, and India new taxa and combs, are described in the following genera: Conio-chaeta (1 sp.); Bombardia (2 spp.); Lasiosphaeria (7 spp.). A new genus, MYCOMEDUSIOSPORA (Rick) is set up to accomodate Rick''s Cyano-cephalium flavidum. New features of peridium, ascus, and ascospore morphology are pointed out, and these are shown to fit in with the previously recognized pattern of variation in the Sordariaceae. Evidence is presented in support of a sordariacean origin of the Coronophorales.
