Abstract
A derivation is given for the vibrational polarization and the vibrational polarizability of a molecule in several degrees of approximation. From the expressions derived, the vibrational polarization is calculated for a large number of molecules. A discussion, within the framework of the present derivation, is given of the atomic polarization, and a detailed comparison with previous theories is made. Keywords
