Abstract
The crystal structure of tribenzyltin acetate has been determined by three-diimensional X-ray methods. The crystals are monoclinic, space group P21/b, with a= 11·254, b= 16·716, c= 10·943 Å, and γ= 105° 22′. In the crystal the tin atoms are rendered five-co-ordinate in a trigonal bipyramidal structure by bridging acetate groups. The resulting structure is a linear polymer containing two different Sn–O bond lengths of 2·14 and 2·65 Å.
