Abstract
8 hirsute [female][female] 15 to 23 yrs. of age, showing no apparent neoplastic pathology of the endocrine glands but presenting masculinizing symptoms presumably associated with adreno-cortical hyperfunction and excess androgen, were treated for mos. for this condition with estrone and/or ant. pituitary gonadotrophic factor, hypodermically, orally or locally. The ant. pituitary gonadotrophic factor was much more efficacious than estrone. The superfluous facial and body hair, at the outset firm to plucking, was caused by treatment, in due time, to loosen and could be rubbed off or plucked quite easily. Regrowth of hair occurred after several wks. but the new growth was finer and came in loose so that these could again be plucked with ease. No ill effects were noted upon the normal hair. Favorable psychic and feminizing effects were produced. In some an originally disturbed menses was corrected, in others a normal one at times was temporarily disturbed. Keywords
